How to Overcome Anxiety and Depression?

Do you feel like you are hopeless, helpless and worthless? Do you feel like you are restless, keyed up, or on edge?

If you are experiencing all the above-mentioned feelings that are uncontrollable, progressing or make you overwhelmed then, you may be suffering from Depression or Anxiety. But there is nothing to worry about; here is the article that will help you to cope up with these mood disorders (anxiety and Depression).

Anxiety:

Anxiety is the emotional state of apprehension and fear which is characterized by palpitations, increased blood pressure and feelings of stress.

Ways to overcome anxiety:

Anxiety can be treated by psychotherapy, behavioral therapy and medication. But in some situations, an anxiety disorder can be treated at home without any medical assistance. There are some of the ways to battle anxiety without medication. Let’s discuss it!

· Let it out:

One of the effective ways to overcome anxiety is to put your stressful emotions and fear out. Never keep anxious feelings stuck with you. Share it with your trusted friends, but screaming at the top of your lungs is found more effective.

· Get moving:

Exercise is one of the best anxiety killers. Work out raises the serotonin and endorphin level in your body which in turn boosts your mood and overall sense of well being. Try to manage your time and exercise for at least 30 minutes every day.

· Proper bedtime:

With the hectic routine, it becomes difficult for you to manage proper sleep timings. There are a huge number of workaholics who only sleep three to four hours per day, but everyone needs sleep to function properly. Develop a bedtime routine and do something relaxing before bed.

· Live in the present:

Might be you are one the persons who remain anxious and worried about the future or past. Such kind of anxious thoughts overwhelms you and put you in anxiety. That’s why just focus on the moment that is taking place right now and forget the rest.

Depression:

Depression is the most common mental health illness that affects your feeling, thinking and acting, i.e. hopelessness, despair and low mood take place.

Ways to overcome Depression:

When you are depressed, then you feel lonely, despair and powerless. But given below are some of the effective tips that will prove as a road of recovery.

· Support your health:

To fight against depression, good health plays a significant role. You should take care of your health first to get rid of all negative emotions and depressed feelings. You should focus on the three aims to achieve good health

1. A well-balanced diet

2. Proper sleep timing and duration

3. Health relaxation techniques

· Oppose negative thinking:

Negative thinking is the fuel to your depression. These thoughts can overwhelm and lead you towards the road of depression. Negative thinking includes:

1. All-or-Nothing thinking

2. Overgeneralization

3. Diminishing positive thinking

4. Jumping to conclusions, etc.

Try to think in a balanced way and be optimistic.

· Get proper sunlight:

Sunlight increases the serotonin level in your body and have a positive impact on your overall health. Do try to expose yourself to the sunlight for at least 12 to30 minutes a day.

Conclusion:

Depression and anxiety lower your energy, hope, power and drive. Whenever you feel that you are depressed and anxious, try to overcome it as soon as possible. Otherwise by the progressing time, it becomes more deteriorating and dangerous to your mental health.
